STEP 1: THE MINDSET
GIRL… It’s time to take it down a notch!
Whenever you want to create a fairer wardrobe, it helps to know exactly why you want to do this. Boringgg, I know.. but from experience – I can tell that it can be quite tough to pass by a Zara, H&M or any other fast fashion chain if you can’t find any good reason not to go in. [I must confess I’m still struggling sometimes.]
So I can tell you all these horrible reasons, but that would be no fun. Well I mean, it becomes a lot easier when you create your own view… You probably have a strong opinion anyways.
The best part about this first step is that you have a great reason to watch some documentaries on Netflix and buy some nice new books.
If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.
Get inspired! Are you a Netflix kind a girl? Have a look at these inspiring documentaries about the fashion industry:
Loving it old-school? Then I would suggest to read the following books about slow fashion.
Do you need serious power-women to inspire you? Then I suggest the following TED-Talks.
My best tip is: get inspired! Make up your mind and create your own opinion and view on slow fashion. Once you have this, your definitely ready for step 2.
Fast fashion isn’t free. Someone, somewhere is paying.
