4/4 Birth story
My midwife performed some checks, and unfortunately, I had to be stitched. She explained that, despite my best efforts, our baby girl emerged with her hand up high, causing damage to my circular muscle on the inside. I had to be transferred to the hospital, which felt disappointing after such a successful and super quick birth. Once at the hospital, I learned the situation was quite severe, and I needed an epidural for the stitching. Yeah right, did the delivery all by myself and now I need an epidural?

Looking back, I’m grateful for how things unfolded because my healing process went remarkably well. I experienced minimal pain. The only downside was that our hospital experience lasted three times longer than the birth itself. Lol.

3/4 Birth story
Kasper supported me along the way, allowing me to focus and follow my instincts. As the contractions grew even stronger, the midwife arrived 2 hours after my contractions started. Within 5 minutes, my midwife and Kasper decided to quickly set up the birth pool, realizing we were running out of time. Despite wanting to keep control and express my concern that there wouldn’t be enough time, the only words I managed to say were ‘I think.’ My midwife reassured me, saying, ‘Don’t think, we will take care of that for you.’ I refocused on my breathing and continued experiencing those intense waves.

The urge to push soon emerged. I fought to hold it back, eager to move into the birth pool. Luckily, in the meantime, there was a comforting layer of water in the pool, allowing me to transition into it. The relief was incredible. It felt serene and calm, compared to the last hour. We listened to our baby’s heartbeat again, I looked at Kasper, realizing our baby girl was almost here. I maintained control, I could feel her head, she was almost there, and after half an hour of very controlled pushing and breathing, Nora was born.

The most magical part was that Kasper and I were able to lift her out of the water ourselves, our first touch, we placed her on my chest. She was so peaceful, taking her time to start breathing, and then pooped on me—my girl. Haha! Eighteen minutes later, the placenta was born (a half-lotus birth), and I had achieved my all-natural, remarkably peaceful, and beautiful home birth and above all a very quick one. Even though the pain and timing had been very intense it had been a dream birth. Can you believe it? Just three hours of contractions and no cervical exams. I felt so powerful, I just delivered a baby and we had accomplished it almost all on our own.

2/4 Birth story
I called Kasper first, bubbling with excitement, and told him it was time for him to wrap things up and come home slowly from work. After finishing my matcha, I was ready to call my midwife, and she planned to visit us in about an hour. I felt calm and relaxed, yet so extremely excited at the same time. I had the biggest smile on my face as I knew our baby was on her way and she would soon join our little fam.

My midwife arrived and I eagerly jumped on the sofa to hear the baby’s heart rate, all was well. She explained that contractions might take some time to start, so she advised us to watch videos and create a cozy atmosphere. While I took it slow, I urged Kasper to vacuum the house 😂 —I guess a final burst of nesting energy before the baby arrived!

Milo was picked up by my parents-in-law, and just 15 minutes after the midwife left, the contractions began - which took us a little by surprise. They intensified rapidly, with intervals decreasing from 5 to 4 to 3 minutes within an hour. The pain was manageable, but the thought of enduring this intense feeling for hours became overwhelming. We decided to call the midwife, who suggested taking it to the shower while she made her way to us. The warm water brought relief, and having a stool in the shower was a complete lifesaver. At each stage, I took a moment to sense the intensity of the contraction and recognized that this was the pain I had to breathe through for approximately one minute.

1/4 Birth story
After a rough start with almost 18 weeks of nausea, I was thrilled to regain my energy around the 30-week mark. It made me feel invincible, capable of anything. In full preparation mode, I sought support from a psychologist to address emotional triggers from the past that came up. Starting at 37 weeks, I prepared my body with acupuncture. Occasionally, I experienced Braxton Hicks contractions, reminding me that labor was approaching. The baby was already in an optimal position, nestled deep within, ready to make her entrance. A week before my due date, I embraced a slower pace and tried to create a serene pregnancy bubble.

On Tuesday, May 9th, everything changed. I began experiencing stomach aches every 1.5 hours. That evening, a friend came over and I cooked her dinner, the stomach aches disappeared. The following morning (39+5) after a good night's sleep, I was making myself a matcha latte when suddenly...I peed my pants, or no. I was hesitant for a few seconds but then I knew…with a big smile on my face, I realized my water had broken.

For 2 years now, I’ve been using @snuggs period
